Map of Iron in Sphalerite
Description
This map shows the replacement of Zn by Fe in sphalerite. Th intensities
in this image are directly proportional to the concentration of iron. From
the map it is evident that varying conditions during the growth of this
sphalerite allowed it to incorporate variable amounts of iron. The image
is 4.2 by 4.2 mm and took 16 hours to acquire
