Hydrothermal Gold
This secondary electron image pictures several grains of hydrothermally
grown gold (gold coloured particles) resting on silver chloride (blue). These
crystals were grown by Dr. Chris Gammons of McGill EPS as part of a series of
experiments in gold-silver solubility at low temperatures. Although the
crystals appear to have a pentagonal symmetry, they are actually orthagonal,
the pentagonal shapes due to twinning
