Map of Lead in Sphalerite
Description
This image maps the distribution of Pb in a sample of sphalerite (ZnS)
from the Pine Point Mine in NWT. The bright white "fingers" in the lower
left corner are galena (PbS). The map shows that the concentration of lead
is variable among the growth bands in the sphalerite. Comparison with the
Fe map shows that there is an inverse correlation between lead and iron
concentrations. The area mapped is approximately 4.2 mm a side.
